MINI USA AND THE MINI JOHN COOPER WORKS RACE TEAM HEAD TO BARBER MOTORSPORTS PARK AFTER BACK-TO-BACK WINS AT ROAD AMERICA

Team running strong heading to new track for the series and the penultimate race of the 2024 season

Woodcliff Lake, NJ,  September 6, 2024. MINI USA and the MINI John Cooper Works Team head into the sixth race weekend of the 2024 SRO TC America series, making a stop at Barber Motorsports Park in Birminghan, Alabama. This is the first time the team and the series will visit the famed 2.38-mile track and the second to last race of the 2024 season. Just two weeks ago, Cristian Perocarpi, behind the wheel of the #37 MINI JCW PRO, secured both first place finishes in the Touring Car (TC) class at Road America.

Cristian Perocarpi will once again pilot the #37 MINI JCW PRO alongside teammate Scott Thomson in the #66 MINI JCW PRO in the Touring Car (TC) class. They will be joined by P.J. Groenke in the #62 MINI JCW in the Touring Car A (TCA) class. Groenke is the only member of the team with racing experience at Barber Motorsports Park.

“The team is ready to give it their all at Barber Motorsports Park this weekend and continue our successful campaign during the 2024 season,”  said Luis Perocarpi, team owner, LAP Motorsports. “Cristian and Scott have been working closely with P.J. given his experience at the track to understand all the unique turns and elevation changes they will face this weekend.”

To highlight MINI’s famous support for owner customization, the MINI USA and the MINI JCW Team once again featured a special rooftop graphic on the roof of the #37 MINI JCW PRO driven by Perocarpi this weekend.

The MINI JCW Race Team full time crew at Barber Motorsports Park will be joined by one MINI dealer technicians as part of the MINI Technician Race Crew Program. Every race weekend MINI dealer technicians support the team at the track during practice, qualifying and race days for the entire weekend. The race team relies on the skill and knowledge of the technicians that work, day to day on MINI, to bring that expertise to the track. This weekend the team will be supported by a MINI dealer technician from MINI of Dallas. Last season the team was supported by more than 20 qualified MINI dealer technicians and were also voted Crew of the Year by the series’ credentialed participants and competitors.

The MINI JCW Race Team finished the 2023 SRO TC America Series as runner up for both the Manufacturer’s Championship and Team Championship. The series finale for the 2024 season will take place at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on October 3 – 6.
