MINI USA AND THE MINI JOHN COOPER WORKS RACE TEAM HEAD TO ROAD AMERICA AFTER SUCCESSFUL RUN AT VIR

Team looks to leverage recent success at VIR and last season’s dominance at Road America

Woodcliff Lake, NJ,  August 16, 2024. MINI USA and the MINI John Cooper Works Team are gearing up for Week 5 of the 2024 SRO TC America series at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. The team heads to the famed Midwest road course after the team took home a total of five podiums at Virginia International Raceway (VIR), including Cristian Perocarpi’s victory in Race 2 that weekend. The MINI John Cooper Works Team will also ride the momentum of a strong showing at Road America in 2023, where the team netted four total podiums including one first place, one second place, and two third place finishes.

“We had tremendous success at Road America last season so we have a strong plan in place for our talented group of drivers,”  said Luis Perocarpi, team owner, LAP Motorsports. “We hope to finish strong again this season and bring home a few podiums for the MINI team.”

Cristian Perocarpi will once again pilot the #37 MINI JCW PRO alongside Scott Thomson in the #66 MINI JCW PRO in the Touring Car (TC) class. They will be joined by P.J. Groenke in the #62 MINI JCW and Bruce Myrehn in the #63 MINI JCW in the Touring Car A (TCA) class.

This weekend MINI USA and the MINI JCW Team will once again feature a special rooftop graphic on the roof of the #37 MINI JCW PRO driven by Perocarpi. MINI vehicles have long been known for having a highly visible white roof and in recent years still offers roof graphics and multi-tone roofs to support owner customization.

The MINI JCW Race Team full time crew at Road America will also joined by three MINI dealer technicians as part of the MINI Technician Race Crew Program. Every race weekend MINI dealer technicians support the team at the track during practice, qualifying and race days for the entire weekend. The race team relies on the skill and knowledge of the technicians that work, day to day on MINI, to bring that expertise to the track. This weekend the team will be supported by MINI dealer technicians from MINI of Des Moines, International MINI and MINI of Orlando. Last season the team was supported by more than 20 qualified MINI dealer technicians and were also voted Crew of the Year by the series’ credentialed participants and competitors.

The MINI JCW Race Team finished the 2023 SRO TC America Series as runner up for both the Manufacturer’s Championship and Team Championship.
