MINI USA AND THE MINI JOHN COOPER WORKS RACE TEAM GRABS THREE PODIUMS AT SEBRING INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY

Williams leads Driver Championship and MINI USA leads Manufacturer’s Championhip heading into series finale weekend at IMS

Woodcliff Lake, NJ,  September 26, 2023. MINI USA and the MINI John Cooper Works Team showed nothing but confidence this weekend at the second to last race weekend of the 2023 SRO TC America held at Sebring International Raceway in Sebring, Fla., taking home three podiums in a final race weekend before the series championship at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway in two weeks.

Clay Williams drove the #60 MINI JCW PRO to another two-podium weekend taking P2 in both Race 1 and Race 2. Williams teammate Cristian Perocarpi also took home a podium taking P3 in Race 2 in the #37 MINI JCW PRO. Clay Williams remains the current leader in the Driver’s Championship in the TC class, with Perocari running fourth. MINI USA also leads the manufacturer’s championship in the series.

“I am so proud of Clay and Cristian on their performance this weekend and all season long,“ said Luis Perocarpi, team owner, LAP Motorsports. “We look forward to racing in front of our home crowd in two weeks and hopefully bringing home a few championship trophies to the shop.”

The Brownsburg, Ind. -based LAP Motorsports team, which operates the MINI JCW Team, was supported this weekend by four qualified MINI Dealer technicians, working alongside the team during practice, qualifying and race days as part of the MINI Technician Race Crew Program. The four technicians were from dealers across the U.S., including MINI of Tucson, MINI of Orlando and MINI of Dallas. The technicians supported the team for the entire weekend at Sebring. The race team relies on the skill and knowledge of the technicians that work, day to day on MINI, to bring that expertise to the track.

The team finished last season as the runner up for the Manufacturer’s Championship in both the Touring Car (TC) and Touring Car A (TCA) classes. Clay Williams, driver of the #60 MINI JCW Pro, also finished the 2022 season in 2nd place in the Driver’s Championship in the TC class.
