WHO NEEDS A HOTEL ROOM WHEN YOU CAN TAKE YOUR ACCOMMODATION WITH YOU?

When Allen Long and Caren Pilgrim set off on road trips in their MINI, they have no worries about having to make any food and lodging arrangements.

Because they simply hook up their special custom-built mini-trailer to their MINI and they’re all set to go. And that’s what they did when they joined MINI TAKES THE STATES 2016 in St Ignace, MI, for a 900-mile drive to Sioux Falls, SD.

Allen and Caren, of Madison, WI, built their trailer from scratch and not only did they include sufficient sleeping space for two people but they also built a small kitchen into the rear of the trailer.

“I saw some people using teardrop-style trailers on MTTS and I was inspired to make our own trailer from the ground up,” said Allen. “It’s really comfortable and we can cook up some great meals in the kitchen, including recently when we made a mean steak and shrimp dinner!”

“It really attracts a lot of attention on these events and everyone wants to talk about it and ask us if it really has a bedroom and kitchen,” he added.
