Standin’ on a Corner in Winslow, Arizona

In the words of the famous hit “Take it Easy” by the rock band The Eagles, MINI owner Ralph Choate will literally be “Standin on a Corner in Winslow, Arizona” when MINI TAKES THE STATES 2018 passes through the small south western town in a few days.

Explaining his reasons at the start of MTTS 2018 in Portland, Oregon, Ralph said that it would be part of his fund raising efforts in support of MINI USA’s official charity partner for this year’s rally, Feeding America, the nation’s largest hunger-relief organization dedicated to fighting domestic hunger through a network of food banks.

Ralph, who was named as ‘Fund Raiser of the Day’ on day one of the event in Portland, and his wife Betty, will be greeting MINI motorers in Winslow and selling a limited edition commemorative button badge in exchange for a $5 donation to the charity.

On MTTS 2016, Ralph and Betty were the top fund raisers for Feeding America collecting over $5,600 from participants, enough to provide 56,749 meals for families in need. “We felt it was such an important cause so we decided we had to come back and beat that number this year,” he said.

This will be their third MINI TAKES THE STATES and they will be driving to Colorado with their dog, Elwood, in their 2013 MINI Paceman JCW called ‘Reginald’. Their efforts will contribute to the goal of MTTS 2018 where it is hoped that funds raised during the event will provide two million meals.

MINI motorers wanting to buy one of the special badges should look out for Ralph, Betty and Elwood in Winslow on Wednesday July 5th when the epic motoring rally passes between Flagstaff, Arizona, and Sante Fe, New Mexico.
