Classics Turn Out in Force in Oregon

Alongside the hundreds of modern day MINIs that take part in MINI TAKES THE STATES, there is always a contingent of classic Minis that take on the challenge of this epic motoring journey.

MTTS 2018 is no different and as the western route started its journey Oregon, among the more than 450 MINIs that gathered at the start were several versions of the original Mini, including three from the same enthusiasts’ club.

Keith La Warne of Beaverton, Oregon, proudly showed off his 1969 classic Mini alongside two other classics belonging to fellow members of Oregon MINI Society.

Keith originally bought his Mini in 2003 and three years later, he took it on the inaugural MTTS in 2006, covering over 10,000 miles in 38 days. Fitted with a 1275cc multi-port fuel injected engine, his Mini can also proudly boast involvement in the 2010, 2012 and 2014 MINI TAKES THE STATES events.

This year, Keith and his wife Debbie will be giving their classic a rest, choosing instead to travel to the end-of-rally celebration in Keystone, Colorado, in their 2013 MINI Cooper S.
